At the Auckland Bioengineering Institute Dr. Sagar is creating interactive autonomously animated systems which are defining the next generation of human-computer interaction and facial animation. His most recent and innovative work is called "Baby X" - an artificial brain fronted by a baby who, according to its creator, is processing information about surroundings and responding accordingly. Baby X is powered by an artificial brain with inputs layered in through an artificial nervous system. 

The face is just one of the possible applications, and the technology could also be used in advertising, learning or healthcare. A showcase installation has been recently shown at TEDx Auckland, here's a video from it...
